Important information for buyers and suppliers on the Spaza Global platform

Platform Terms of Use

Platform Role

Spaza Global operates as a B2B trade platform connecting Southern African suppliers with global buyers. We facilitate transactions but do not take ownership of inventory. All products are sold directly by verified suppliers.

Commission Structure

Spaza Global charges an 8% platform commission on all completed transactions. This fee covers platform access, payment processing, and basic dispute mediation.

Buyer Responsibilities

Buyers are responsible for: (1) Verifying product specifications before ordering, (2) Providing accurate shipping addresses, (3) Paying applicable import duties and taxes, (4) Inspecting goods upon delivery and reporting issues within 48 hours.

Supplier Responsibilities

Suppliers are responsible for: (1) Accurate product descriptions and measurements, (2) Quality control and consistency, (3) Meeting stated lead times, (4) Providing valid HS codes and export documentation, (5) Resolving product quality disputes.

Refund & Returns Policy

Quality Disputes

If products do not match descriptions or specifications, buyers must report within 48 hours of delivery with photographic evidence. Spaza Global will mediate between parties. Refunds or replacements are at supplier discretion.

Size & Measurement Variations

Artisanal products may have natural variations of up to 10% from stated measurements. Buyers acknowledging this accept minor variations as inherent to handcrafted goods. Variations exceeding 10% may qualify for partial refunds.

Non-Refundable Items

Custom/bespoke orders, perishable goods (tea, food items), and items damaged due to buyer's incorrect storage or handling are non-refundable.

Cancellation Policy

Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours if production has not started. Once production begins, cancellation fees of 30-50% may apply depending on supplier costs incurred.

Limitation of Liability

Spaza Global acts solely as a marketplace facilitator. We are not liable for: (1) Product defects or quality issues, (2) Shipping delays or damages in transit, (3) Customs seizures or import restrictions, (4) Currency fluctuations, (5) Force majeure events. Maximum liability is limited to the platform commission collected on the disputed transaction.

Shipping & Import Terms

Shipping Responsibility

Products ship EXW (Ex Works) or FOB depending on supplier. Buyers are responsible for import clearance, duties, and local taxes unless otherwise negotiated.

HS Codes & Documentation

Suppliers must provide accurate HS (Harmonized System) commodity codes. Spaza Global is not liable for incorrect classifications or resulting duty charges.

Delivery Timeframes

Lead times are estimates and do not constitute guaranteed delivery dates. Delays due to customs, shipping carrier issues, or force majeure do not qualify for refunds.

Payment Terms

Payment Methods

Payments processed via Stripe. Buyers pay full order amount including platform commission. Suppliers receive payment minus commission within 7-14 business days after delivery confirmation.

Currency

Prices displayed in supplier's chosen currency. Currency conversion at checkout uses live rates. Spaza Global is not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations.

Unpaid Orders

Suppliers are not obligated to ship until payment is confirmed. Orders unpaid for 7+ days may be automatically cancelled.

Quality Standards for Artisanal Products

Handcrafted Nature

Many products on Spaza Global are handmade by artisans. Natural variations in color, pattern, and dimensions are inherent characteristics, not defects.

Measurement Guidelines

Suppliers must provide: (1) Exact dimensions for sized items (hats, clothing, placemats), (2) Weight specifications where relevant, (3) Material composition, (4) Care instructions. Buyers should request size charts before bulk orders.

Photo Accuracy

Product photos should accurately represent items. Color variations due to screen displays are expected. Patterns on printed fabrics may vary in placement.
